Blots
Amber-Wolf Kindred holds celebrations called blots regularly throughout the year. An Asatru blot (pronounced like “bloat”) is a ritual of gift giving from us to our Gods, furthering our bonds with each other. Blot means sacrifice, and at our blots we sacrifice such things as mead, beer, or something representing our efforts. We do not make such gifts as servants to our Gods, but to strengthen our relationship with our Gods. Such practices are documented in the lore, both that blots took place, and that loyal folk were rewarded by the Gods for their efforts.
Blots are held seasonally, and practices from kindred to kindred (or independent Heathen to independent Heathen) vary. Amber-Wolf Kindred holds blots at the Solstices, Equinoxes, and at various other points in between. These holy days, some historical and some modern, include: Yule, Disting, Summer-Finding, May Day, Midsummer, Thingtide, Winter-Finding, Ancestor Blot, and Einjerhar. We also recognize, in perhaps a less formal way (with the exception of Einjerhar, which we have chosen to celebrate as a formal blot), Days of Remembrance, most of which are to acknowledge heros and heroines of our folk’s past.
If you are interested in attending an Amber-Wolf Kindred blot, please be aware that you must, in some way, be known to us, before attending a blot. This may be through Asatru email lists, meeting at some other Heathen event, etc. Or, just contact us and we’ll meet up for coffee (or a pub, for a bite to eat, at a bookstore, whatever works)! Blot attendance is by invitation only. While some blots may be held in public places, they may also be on private property or in a private residence. Reasons for the invitation-only policy should therefore be evident. If you would like an invitation to an Amber-Wolf Kindred blot, please email us. Guests are welcome in our hall!
Moots
A moot is a chance to meet up with other Asa-folk, and spend some social time with other good Heathen folk. We try to get to as many moots as we can. A moot can be held in any number of places, such as pubmoots, cafémoots, campmoots, and so on. We will post any moots that we are hosting, and any others at the request of the host, on our website.
